O'Reilly: Iranian leaders are 'struggling to survive'

Bill O’Reilly, a conservative commentator, remarked that Iran’s Islamic Republic is in a precarious position following attacks on U.S. nuclear sites, implying that Iranian forces could eventually turn against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his supporters.

O’Reilly expressed concern about the Iranian leadership, stating, “These individuals are desperate. The mullahs and their allies have nowhere to escape as they face war crime charges.” He shared these views during an appearance on News Nation’s “On Balance” with host Leland Vittert, adding, “They are literally fighting for their lives.”

Reports suggest that Khamenei went into hiding amidst the recent conflict with Israel, where there were discussions about the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and calls for a democratic uprising in Tehran, a proposition Netanyahu apparently considered.

The ongoing hostilities between Iran and Israel have escalated, with both sides attacking each other for nearly two weeks since a surprise strike on Tehran’s military and nuclear facilities on June 12.

During a press conference, President Trump criticized both nations while U.S.-Middle Eastern tensions continued despite his call for a ceasefire. “Basically, we have two nations that have been in conflict for ages. They seem unsure of their direction,” Trump told reporters before heading to The Hague.

Iranian leaders announced a pause in their attacks on Israel but did not agree to a full ceasefire. “Iran has consistently made it clear that Israel initiated hostilities, not us,” stated Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Aragut, in a social media post, adding that there was currently no agreement on ceasefires or halting military actions.

O’Reilly, who maintained contact with Trump during this period, accused Iran’s leaders of deceiving their citizens about the nation’s capabilities in the conflict. “They’ll place the burden on the Persian people,” he claimed. “They are trying to project that they are still in control and not defeated,” he remarked, underscoring the challenging situation.
