Upon reaching the Netherlands for the NATO summit, President Donald Trump participated in “NATO family photos” alongside other leaders.
In one photo, Trump found himself between King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, with French President Emmanuel Macron beside the Queen.
Other attendees included British Prime Minister Kier, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, numerous leaders from NATO countries, and Ukrainian President Voldimir Zelensky. Notably, Ukraine isn’t a member of NATO.
This photo opportunity followed Trump’s greetings with the Dutch royal couple, along with a notable comment from NATO executive director Mark Latte, who emphasized the need for non-US NATO countries to contribute fairly.

“For years, the US has been pushing for European countries to step up their defense spending. Now, European allies and Canada are working to match their expenditures with those of the US,” Latte remarked.
He added, “Let’s acknowledge President Trump’s ongoing calls for increased NATO defense budgets.”
Following the photo ops, Trump headed to a social dinner, marking the height of the day’s agenda in the Netherlands. His schedule for Wednesday is quite packed, featuring a full session with the North Atlantic Council and a bilateral meeting.
Trump arrived in the Netherlands on Tuesday night, after starting his day by negotiating a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
According to Trump, he eased tensions between Israel and Iran after an initial ceasefire was breached. He claimed he convinced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to recall an airplane bound for Iran.
“Israel is not going to attack Iran. All planes should turn around and head home,” Trump stated in a post on Truth Social.
He humorously remarked that his time in The Hague would be “much calmer compared to my experiences with Israel and Iran.”
