Tim McGraw cancels concert in Colorado because of back surgery

Tim McGraw, the renowned country music artist, is stepping back from performing to recover from recent back surgery.

The 57-year-old has had to withdraw from his appearance at the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event in Colorado, which is set for July 21st.

In his place, Cross Canadian Ragweed will take the stage during what would have been McGraw’s final cowboy standing show in Fort Collins. The band, recently reunited after a lengthy 15-year break, expressed excitement about their upcoming performance and shared their well wishes for McGraw’s recovery.

They mentioned, “We’re coming together for an unforgettable night filled with top-notch music and the best bull riding on the planet. You won’t want to miss this.”

Although the reason behind McGraw’s back surgery remains unclear, his representative did not respond immediately for comment.

According to reports from Deadline, McGraw’s canceled performance also follows his departure from a leading role in a Netflix bull riding show, which he was supposed to star in and executive produce. It seems he stepped back due to the need for recovery time after his surgery.

In May, McGraw provided an update on his health during a podcast, revealing he has had a double knee replacement, three back surgeries, and is currently dealing with a torn rotator cuff and a ruptured disc. He mentioned, “It might be time to hang it up,” reflecting on his health challenges.

He noted that his fitness routine now requires careful planning. “I can’t move quickly. I can’t just turn on a dime,” he explained. “Everything has to be very deliberate. I go through a cold plunge, use an infrared sauna, and get massages.”

Looking ahead, he plans to kick off a standing room-only tour starting March 14, 2024, with performances lined up until October 25, 2025.
