Big Apple is on fire for these firefighters!
On Thursday, Manhattan was filled with excitement as fans gathered to meet the FDNY’s new 2026 “Hero Calendar” model, Emi, who certainly captures attention.
The recently revived calendar showcases some of the most impressive firefighters but also offers a chance for fans to connect and take selfies at Vanderbilt Plaza in Midtown.
“This is all so much fun. Part of our job can be quite serious, so it’s great to have something uplifting like this,” one model expressed. “I had a blast.”
Justin Hassan, 35, a Staten Island resident and member of Ladder 3, graces the calendar cover, showcasing his impressive physique.
“The photographers guided me on what to wear and how to pose. They made it so simple, allowing me to show off my build,” Hassan shared.
The calendar presents both male and female versions, aiming to stir excitement among New Yorkers while promoting fire safety.
Jennifer Costanza, who is featured as a standout in the calendar, noted, “I think it’s pretty lighthearted. It’s funny… we don’t really get this kind of attention often, so it’s exciting to be here for a good reason.”
Costanza, a 36-year-old paramedic from the Bronx, highlighted the remarkable individuals in her department. “We really have good-looking, hardworking people in the FDNY,” she remarked.
Among them is Elijah Toussaint from Engine 260 in Long Island City, who also poses shirtless, showcasing strength while holding firefighting gear.
The calendar, which was put on hold in 2021 due to poor sales, became available for purchase starting at 11 am on Thursday.
Published by the FDNY Foundation, this nonprofit organization focuses on raising funds for fire equipment and training in NYC.
During the Thursday event, models gathered around a double-decker bus adorned with Hassan’s cover image, taking turns signing calendars for fans.
FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker emphasized the importance of fitness and wellness in the department, saying, “These jobs are intense and require top-notch physical condition.”
