Unsure about what to watch? We’re here to assist you in figuring out what’s worth streaming this weekend.

New movies and shows to stream this weekend: My mother Jane, Squid Game, smoke and more

This weekend marks the conclusion of Squid Game—well, at least for its current run. The series creator has hinted at a potential spin-off. You can catch the third season of Squid Game on Netflix starting Friday. Additionally, HBO Max will showcase Mariska Hargitay’s documentary My mother Jane, reflecting on her mother, Jane Mansfield, whom she never really got to know. And if you’re craving a thrilling summer experience, don’t miss out on smoke on Apple TV+, featuring Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett as detectives tracking down serial arsonists.

Mariska Hargitay lost her mother, the actress Jane Mansfield, when she was just a young child. Mansfield’s impact in Hollywood is undeniable, but her passing left a void in Hargitay’s life. The new Max documentary My mother Jane explores both the successes and personal experiences of her mother, whom she never had the chance to connect with.

Netflix’s new June 27th: Squid Game (Season 3)

Season 3 of Squid Game follows Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-Jae) as he uncovers the true identity of the frontman and is determined to end the game once and for all. As the show moves into its final six episodes—set to be announced soon—Gi-Hun and his fellow survivors will do whatever it takes to overcome the frontman and finish what has been a harrowing experience over three seasons.

Apple TV+ New for June 27th: smoke

This latest project, smoke, is developed by Dennis Lehane, known for works like Shutter Island and Mystic River. He has also written TV shows such as Black Bird and Boardwalk Empire. In smoke, Taron Egerton plays an arson investigator who must reluctantly team up with a police detective to tackle the case of a serial arsonist in the Pacific Northwest. This series also premieres on Friday.
