Boston Sports Radio has expressed strong criticism toward Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers following his announcement that the 2025 season may be his last. This revelation came during an interview on The Pat McCuffy Show, which drew the ire of hosts Greg Hill, Courtney Cox, and Chris Curtis on Wei Radio.
On Friday, the hosts voiced their disapproval, suggesting that Rodgers’ potential farewell tour seemed inappropriate given the timing. Hill remarked, “It’s kind of a d—- movement. You need to declare this is the last year when training camp hasn’t even started?” He further suggested that if Rodgers wanted to address his final season, he should do so when engaging directly with fans.
Cox echoed these sentiments, indicating that other Steelers players were already on edge about Rodgers’ retirement talk instead of focusing on their game. She sarcastically mentioned that if someone’s final season is meant for fun, perhaps it should remain low-key, criticizing what felt like an unnecessary self-aggrandizing farewell. “You’re an egomania, a narcissist,” she expressed.
Cox acknowledged a bit of hypocrisy in her stance, admitting that she might not feel the same way if she were in Rodgers’ shoes or if a player like Tom Brady were involved. “The fact that it’s Aaron Rodgers – that’s why I hate it,” she said. Curtis added his disdain, indicating that he found it weak that Rodgers would be part of the Steelers’ plans, noting his decline in performance.
Despite the backlash, Rodgers has expressed commitment to giving everything he has for the Steelers in his potential final season. “I’m very comfortable and happy with what happens,” he stated, emphasizing his dedication to the team.
In reflecting on the uniqueness of playing for a storied franchise like Pittsburgh, Rodgers mentioned the significance of the opportunity to work under Coach Mike Tomlin and the chance to contribute to the organization’s legacy.
