Who is Dan “Razin” Kane?

Dan “Razin” Kane, a retired fighter pilot and now chairman of the CIA veterinarian board, has become a notable figure in America’s military landscape. He was appointed by President Donald Trump during what some describe as “unprecedented moves,” and his military journey is gaining attention.

A special segment hosted by Marine Corps veteran Johnny “Joey” Jones explores Kane’s background and the insights of military experts who recognize the significance of his position, including former Navy fighter Matthew “With” Buckley. Buckley highlighted the critical nature of military readiness, stating that when global issues arise, one of the first inquiries by the president is about aircraft availability—an inquiry directed to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The general who played a key role in combatting ISIS during Trump’s first term was confirmed as co-chairman. Kane, as noted by Jones, is “the person in charge.” His role, initially established to unify U.S. defense organizations, was first held by the legendary General Omar N. Bradley.

Fast forward to February 2025; President Trump nominated Kane, a move that surprised many. During his Senate confirmation hearing, Kane acknowledged his unconventional candidacy. “I’m aware I’m not the traditional choice, but these are unusual times,” he said.

This appointment marks the first occasion in which a retired officer was called back into service for such a significant role. Trump and other Defense Department leaders expressed confidence that Kane will fulfill his mission of “peace through power.”

Before stepping into this crucial position, Kane had an extensive history of service. After graduating from the Virginia Military Institute in 1990, he became an F-16 pilot, following in his father’s footsteps. He amassed thousands of flight hours, which contributed to earning his nickname “Razin.” As Colonel Lopez described, while Kane has a calm demeanor, there’s a fierce drive beneath the surface, akin to a volcano waiting to erupt.

Kane’s experience includes a notable mission during the first Gulf War, where he was involved in neutralizing Saddam Hussein’s SCUD missiles. He adapted his strategies to minimize threats in subsequent conflicts, demonstrating his tactical savvy. On September 11, 2001, he was integral in safeguarding the nation’s capital amidst the panic of the day.

His career also saw him become a White House Fellow, where he coordinated the federal response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He engaged with the Department of Homeland Security and served in part-time roles in the National Guard, exploring intersections between entrepreneurship and national security.

More recently, Kane collaborated with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses following Operation Midnight Hammer, which was a surprise attack targeting Iran’s nuclear capabilities. His extensive skills and accomplishments speak volumes about his commitment, and further details can be explored in the special “Who is Razin ‘Caine?” available for streaming.
