House Oversight Committee Expands Investigation into Biden’s Mental State

The House Oversight Committee is broadening its investigation into claims regarding a possible cover-up of former President Joe Biden’s mental health decline and any questionable enforcement actions that might have taken place. In the coming weeks, nine ex-White House officials are expected to testify.

An aide familiar with the interview preparations shared that five former senior staff members have agreed to come forward for transcribed interviews. This group includes Ronald Crane, who was Biden’s Chief of Staff; Steve Richetty, a former counselor; Mike Donilon, a Senior Advisor; Bruce Reed, who served as Deputy Chief of Staff for policy; and Anita Dan, a former communications advisor. Their interviews are slated to take place between July 24th and August 7th.

Additionally, former special assistant Ashley Williams and Annie Tomasini, who was also former deputy director and chief of staff, will participate in interviews on July 11th and July 18th respectively.

Interestingly, though many former officials are cooperating, not all are willing to testify voluntarily. The committee chair, James Comer from Kentucky, has issued strong subpoenas for Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, and Anthony Bernal, a former senior advisor. O’Connor’s deposition is set for July 9th, and Bernal’s for July 16th.

These sessions are part of the ongoing inquiry into allegations surrounding attempts to hide Biden’s cognitive decline and possibly unauthorized decisions concerning pardons and other actions made by senior officials during his tenure.

Comer has been actively seeking clarity on who was making critical decisions in Biden’s circle during what seems to be a noticeable decline in his mental acuity. He recently reached out to former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and a few others, urging them to appear for interviews as well. He believes these officials hold integral information about the functions of the executive branch during the previous administration.

Comer emphasized that if staff were implementing a strategy to hide the state of Biden’s cognitive abilities, then Congress might need to consider legislative action in response.

Looking ahead, Comer plans to schedule further interviews from late August into early September, aiming to determine if additional subpoenas will be necessary for compliance.

In a recent statement, Comer expressed the urgency of hearing from those who were complicit in facilitating what he refers to as a farce regarding Biden’s cognitive health and alleged misconduct in enforcement behavior.
