ICE captures 'most wanted' criminal on Long Island

Top Honduran Fugitive Captured by Immigration Agents

On Tuesday, immigration agents apprehended one of Honduras’ most wanted criminals.

Orbin Mauricio Martinez Koto, age 36, faces serious charges and could have received a 44-year prison sentence. His offenses include fleeing Honduras, aggravated murder, attempted murder, and breaking into a home in Central America.

Interestingly, while he has no criminal record in the United States, Martinez Koto crossed into the country illegally three times and was deported on two occasions.

The government is now working to successfully capture this foreign fugitive located in Westbury, aiming for another deportation.

ICE reports that Martinez Koto first crossed the border illegally after encountering a border agent in Carrizo Springs, Texas, on July 17, 2007. He was deported less than two weeks later.

His second attempt occurred on February 27, 2019, but he was deported again the following month after being caught near Bracketville, Texas.

This time, however, he managed to slip through the agents’ oversight, and it remains unclear how he evaded detection during that crossing.

A warrant for his arrest was issued by a Honduran court on January 19, 2022. Recently, ICE was alerted about an Interpol “red notice” seeking his arrest, which came from the FBI on May 16, 2025.

Currently, Martinez Koto is in ICE custody, awaiting what is anticipated to be his third deportation from the United States. Meanwhile, efforts to ramp up deportations continue under the current administration, which aims to increase ICE’s workforce significantly, pushing for the hiring of 10,000 new officers.
