Elon Musk’s Support for Trump Amid Disagreements on Spending Bill
Elon Musk has expressed support for President Donald Trump despite some disagreements regarding Trump’s “one big beautiful bill.” On social media, Musk stated, “Where the credits are paid. @RealdonaldTrump has successfully resolved several serious conflicts around the world.”
This came after Trump announced that Israel had accepted the conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, warning that Hamas could face more severe terms if they reject the agreement.
Interestingly, Musk’s supportive comments coincided with a tongue-in-cheek remark from Trump about possibly sending Musk back to South Africa. While some interpreted this as a serious suggestion, others believe it was merely a joke.
Trump had responded, “I don’t know. We may have to put Doge on Elon. Do you know what you’re doing? Doge is a monster – it may have to go back and eat Elon. Isn’t that awful?” This came amid a history of exchanges between Musk and Trump, especially after Musk criticized Republican representatives for claiming they wanted to cut government spending while supporting a significant increase in debt.
Musk pointed out the questionable nature of the spending in the bill, calling it “insane.” He went on to say that the debt cap could rise by an unprecedented $5 trillion, suggesting a need for a new political party that truly cares about citizens.
He emphasized that if this spending bill passes, it would prompt the formation of an “American Party” to provide an alternative to the Democratic Party and their collaborators. “People are actually speaking up because in our country we need something to replace Democrats and collaborators Unipati,” Musk tweeted.
In response, Trump accused Musk of critiquing his spending bill due to its exclusion of electric vehicle (EV) mandates. The proposed bill could potentially eliminate the current $7,500 EV tax credit, roll back the regulatory credit program, and affect Tesla’s finances significantly, according to reports.
Trump remarked, “Elon Musk strongly opposed the mission of EVs long before I supported him for the presidency. It was ridiculous and a big part of my campaign… Electric cars are fine, but no one needs to force it,” asserting that Musk could benefit from historically substantial subsidies.
