Trump supporter seeks another term and a place on Mount Rushmore for the president

Trump Allies Push for Third Term

Supporters of former President Donald Trump are encouraging Republican leaders to initiate the process for him to run for a third term, stressing the significance of his latest legislative achievement, which they refer to as a “big and beautiful bill.”

Rep. Andy Ogles from Tennessee is also advocating for Trump to be honored alongside iconic presidents like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson on Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. He mentioned, “I was at the White House recently with President Trump, and we discussed this historic law, which is expected to rejuvenate the economy and usher in a new era for America.”

Ogles acknowledged that due to Trump’s leadership, there’s a possibility of reversing the adverse effects of the government’s past actions and Democratic policies. “This type of success makes him deserving of serious consideration for a third term and seems to support the idea that he belongs on Mount Rushmore,” he added.

Details of the Bill

Ogles previously introduced a resolution to allow Trump to pursue another presidential term. He was spotted in the White House during crucial moments as Congress advanced Trump’s sprawling tax and immigration packages and was even active on the House floor amid intense negotiations.

The bill, which spans over 900 pages, narrowly passed following a lengthy session in the House of Representatives. This began on Tuesday afternoon and concluded on Wednesday morning after discussions that were often delayed as House GOP leaders and Trump attempted to win over nay-sayers.

Focus on Key Issues

The proposed legislation furthers Trump’s agenda concerning taxes, immigration, national defense, and energy, among other areas. It will make permanent the income tax reductions from Trump’s last major tax overhaul while introducing a temporary tax credit aimed at lowering wage-related obligations. Additionally, it includes a new tax benefit for those aged 65 and older.

Interestingly, the bill also retains a previously established Green Energy Tax Credit that Trump and his allies had criticized when it was implemented by former President Joe Biden. The bill would allocate more funds to national defense and immigration enforcement, reinforcing Trump’s tough stance on illegal immigration.

Moreover, it suggests increasing the debt ceiling by $5 trillion to avert potential defaults that could harm the economy this summer if fiscal obligations aren’t met.

New work requirements for Medicaid and federal food assistance are also on the table. While Democrats have condemned the bill as a favor to the wealthy, claiming it undermines working-class interests, Republicans argue their tax measures are beneficial to the middle class, citing efforts to eliminate taxes on tips and overtime wages.
