The uncle of one of the famed members of the hip-hop group Outkast was involved in a tragic Road Rage incident that led to his death on the streets of Atlanta last month.
Remoin Patton, 62, was discovered deceased by police in the 200 block of Joseph E. Lowery Blvd NW around 5:30 PM on June 16.
His nephew, Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, co-founded the influential duo with Andre Lauren Benjamin, known as Andre 3000, back in 1992.
According to police reports, Remoin was driving in an area separating the neighborhoods of Grape Town from Washington Hills when he got into a heated argument with another driver.
Sadly, during this confrontation, he was shot and subsequently crashed his vehicle into an unoccupied house, reported officials following the event.
Authorities responded to a 911 call to find Patton suffering from a gunshot wound and, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses remarked that Patton appeared to be turning onto another street when he was struck from behind, causing his car to careen into the front door of a house.
One onlooker, Chris Walker, expressed disbelief, saying, “I really didn’t think my place would face such an ordeal.”
Video footage showed a tarp being used to cover the marks left from the crash.
Big Boi honored his uncle in a heartfelt Facebook post, stating, “Long Live Uncle Mooney… Miss Ya UNC,” alongside a video displaying cherished family memories.
The rapper also shared his grief with WSBTV, noting the deep loss felt by those who knew his uncle. “He was UNC not just for me, but everyone who had the chance to meet him,” he said, emphasizing that the anger from this moment would linger in the family’s hearts.
The police have arrested a suspect, 18-year-old Jablion Crumble, who was transferred to the Fulton County Jail on July 2. He now faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and firearm possession during the commission of a felony.
Records indicate that Crumble remains behind bars without bail. Additionally, a 32-year-old woman named Janisha Crumbley has also been charged in connection with the shooting. She was apprehended during a traffic stop on June 20.
Janisha is accused of obstructing the arrest of the felony suspect and has since been released on a $30,000 bond, according to prison documents.
