Trump Honored with Street Renaming in Florida

President Donald Trump received praise on Tuesday as Palm Beach County decided to rename a major roadway in his honor. The County Commission unanimously voted to change the name of a four-mile section of Southern Boulevard, which connects Palm Beach International Airport to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Resort.

In a related proposal, New Jersey lawmakers are looking to rename Delaware Bay to “New Jersey Bay.” It’s an interesting move, perhaps a reflection of state pride or something else entirely.

During a recent cabinet meeting, Trump noted his admiration for Florida, stating, “This great state, which I won three times, is now recognizing me by renaming this important stretch of road to ‘President Donald J. Trump.’” He continued to express gratitude, saying, “Thank you to Palm Beach County, Gov. Ron DeSantis, and all of Florida’s wonderful legislators for this incredible honor! I truly love Florida!”

The decision to rename the road follows a law signed by Governor DeSantis, directing the Florida Department of Transportation to put up signs honoring Trump along Southern Boulevard.

Additionally, another part of the road will be designated as “PBSO Motorman Highway” to pay tribute to three motorcycle deputies from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office who tragically lost their lives in a crash last year.

The new signage is anticipated to be installed later this year, and while the formal name may change, it seems the postal address and emergency response systems will continue using Southern Boulevard. It’s all a bit of a mixed bag of honor and practicality, wouldn’t you say?
