Adrian Hauser’s Latest Start for the White Sox
Adrian Hauser, the Chicago White Sox starter, had an unusual experience in his most recent game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon. It’s not exactly the type of performance he probably wants to be remembered for, but he pushed through nonetheless.
Following the first inning, Hauser seemed to struggle and left the dugout briefly. However, he returned to pitch for two more innings and stayed on the field after that.
There’s still some uncertainty about why he felt unwell, but this isn’t the first time he’s faced such a situation. During his time with the Milwaukee Brewers, Hauser had similar episodes on two occasions, yet he remained in the game each time.
Once, back in 2018, he dealt with nausea during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies, where he even vomited twice. Amazingly, he still managed to hit two doubles and allowed only one run without exiting the game. Manager Craig Counsell later indicated that it wasn’t an illness, suggesting his nerves played a role.
Then, the following year, he again found himself in a tough spot in his first inning against the Texas Rangers, just four batters into the game. Yet, he kept going, ultimately striking out ten batters and securing a win for the Brewers.
The White Sox are hoping that Hauser’s resilience will pay off; they’re currently looking to end Toronto’s ten-game winning streak as Hauser gives it his all despite the setbacks.
As of now, the White Sox hold a narrow lead over the Blue Jays, 2-1, after six innings pitched by Hauser.
