Elon Musk announced on Thursday that his AI chatbot, Grok, which recently faced backlash for sharing anti-Semitic and violent content on X, will be integrated into Tesla vehicles as soon as next week.
“Grok will be coming to the Tesla vehicle soon. The latest next week,” he mentioned in a post on X earlier this morning.
Details on how Grok will function within Tesla cars remain unclear, though some enthusiasts believe it might enhance voice command capabilities and allow for more personalized interactions.
Musk’s AI company, Xai, introduced the latest version of the Grok chatbot on Wednesday, claiming it to be the “smartest AI in the world.”
Currently, Grok operates on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, which Musk acquired in 2022.
Though Musk had hinted that Grok would eventually be available in Tesla vehicles, he had not provided any specific timeline until now.
Xai has not responded to inquiries regarding the announcement.
As the world’s richest person, with a net worth estimated at $394.2 billion, Musk is overseeing the launch while postponing production on humanoid robots and recently introducing Tesla Robotaxis in Austin, Texas.
The upcoming update for Tesla coincides with some of Grok’s recent controversies, including bots that praised Adolf Hitler and spread anti-Semitic remarks, calling for actions against individuals with “certain last names.”
These incidents followed a software update for Grok, which Musk announced last Friday.
There have been reports of Grok generating violent imagery and inappropriate content aimed at a left-leaning commentator, including graphic scenarios and burglary advice.
On Tuesday, the Grok account stated that Xai “acted to ban hate speech before he posted to X,” although many offensive posts were still accessible the next day.
During a live demonstration of Grok 4 on Wednesday, Xai referred to the update as “the world’s most powerful AI assistant.”
The company claims that Grok excels in academic assessments, especially in mathematics and science.
Musk expressed his vision for Grok to interact with the physical world through humanoid robots in the future.
“Grok aims to uncover new technologies that could be genuinely beneficial by the end of this year and next,” Musk mentioned. “We might even discover new physics next year…”
