Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about the challenges she faced in her nearly 30-year marriage to Valeri Bure. On a recent episode of “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast,” the actress reflected on a particularly tough period during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She revealed, “Val and I went through a really, really rough season in our marriage.” There were moments when they felt unsure about their relationship, thinking, “I don’t know… we just have to get through this.”

The couple, married for almost three decades now, received unexpected support from their son, Lev. According to Candace, Lev, who is 25, played a key role in helping them mend their relationship. He initiated a conversation with both parents, during which they discussed their marriage openly.

“Lev led the charge,” she said. “He came to us and said, ‘We want to talk about this,’ and Val and I sat down for what felt like a 45-minute discussion about our marriage. We even opened the Bible on the couch to talk things through.”

As Candace recalls, Lev spoke with a wisdom that caught her attention. He asked them pointed questions about their efforts to understand each other. “He directly asked me, ‘Have you done everything you can? Is there more grace to give?’” she remembered, noting that his gentle approach was impactful.

She chuckled, reflecting on the moment, saying, “It was really a pivotal point for us. When your kids step in like that, it changes the game entirely.” Candace expressed gratitude for her children, emphasizing how supportive they are and noting that she never expected to find herself in such a situation listening to her kids’ advice.

Bringing in an additional voice, Rev. Jonathan Pokluda joined Candace on the podcast. He highlighted the perspective of love during moments of uncertainty, emphasizing the importance of faith and family.

Candace and Valeri first met in 1994, thanks to her “Full House” co-star, Dave Coulier. They announced their engagement in 1995 and tied the knot a year later. Recently, on their 29th anniversary, Candace shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, recalling their first date: “We raised a beautiful family,” she wrote, showcasing her enduring love for Valeri.

In an exciting recent development, their son Lev got married in January 2024. Candace celebrated this joyful occasion, expressing how blessed she felt to welcome a new daughter into the family.
