Nick Kyrgios has been relatively quiet regarding Giannik Sinner’s recent Wimbledon victory.
After Sinner overcame Carlos Alcaraz in a tense match—finishing with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4—Kyrgios posted a rather cryptic one-letter message about the win on X.
It seems Kyrgios might be hinting at Sinner’s past doping issue.
Sinner, currently ranked as the top Men’s Singles Player, had tested positive for Clostebol, an anabolic steroid, not once but twice in 2024.
He faced a three-month ban from February to early May this year as part of a settlement with the World Doping Organization.
There’s certainly a tense history between Kyrgios and Sinner, with previous matchups that have not been very friendly.
Sinner also had a brief relationship with Anna Kalinskaya, who was once linked to Kyrgios.
When a photo emerged of Kalinskaya with Sinner in 2024, Kyrgios quipped something about her “second serve,” perhaps implying Sinner was less of a competitor in that context.
Kyrgios has expressed a desire for a two-year suspension for Sinner in light of the doping tests.
It’s clear there’s some animosity, at least from Kyrgios’s side.
The two confronted each other in 2022, and Sinner emerged victorious in that lone encounter.
Kyrgios, now 30 years old, has yet to win a Grand Slam title. He’s been struggling with injuries since late 2022. His record of 1-4 in 2025 highlights his challenges, especially since he didn’t compete in 2024 and lost his only match in 2023.
On the other hand, Sinner now has his sights set on more Grand Slam titles following the Wimbledon win. His latest triumph was a much-needed comeback after a disappointing performance against Alcaraz in the French Open Final just a month prior, marking the achievement of his first Wimbledon Championship.
