King Charles Announces Donald Trump’s State Visit
King Charles has revealed the dates for President Donald Trump’s upcoming state visit. The monarch, who is 76, extended a historic invitation to Melania Trump earlier this year after the election.
After some political maneuvering by Leader Starmer, Buckingham Palace finally confirmed that the visit is scheduled for September 17th to 19th.
However, this announcement raised eyebrows as it coincides with the annual party meeting break, meaning Trump won’t be able to interact with Parliament, unlike last week’s visit by French President Emmanuel Macron.
While the Palace hasn’t explicitly explained the reasoning behind these specific dates, some Congressional lawmakers have recently urged House Speaker Lindsay Hoyle to prevent Trump from addressing Congress.
A group of 15 Labour lawmakers and five additional members signed a motion demanding that Trump not be allowed to speak in Parliament.
US Ambassador to the UK, Peter Mandelson, remarked that despite the political concerns, Trump is expected to be warmly welcomed in September. “He really loves England, so he should expect a warm reception. He praises it very much,” he shared.
In a formal statement released late Sunday, Buckingham Palace confirmed Trump’s visit, stating, “President of the United States, President Donald J. Trump, accompanied by Mrs. Melania Trump, has accepted an invitation from the King to visit the UK from September 17th to September 19th, 2025.” The statement also mentioned that the King will host the Trumps at Windsor Castle.
Unlike Macron’s recent visit, Trump’s will occur at Windsor due to ongoing renovations at Buckingham Palace scheduled to finish by 2027. Plans for this official visit began last month, and a formal invitation signed by the King was delivered to Trump at the White House.
Back in February, the star presented the royal invitation to Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office. The President eagerly accepted, saying, “On behalf of Melania and myself, our wonderful first lady, the answer is yes and we look forward to being there, honoring the king and truly honoring your country.”
Trump expressed his admiration for the royals in March, stating that he “loves King Charles” and is known for his sentiments towards the British monarchy.
In the mix of these events, it was also reported that senior members of the royal family may be planning a visit to the US in 2026 following the upcoming inauguration ceremony.
