Questions Arise About Biden’s Cognition After NYT Interview
Former President Joe Biden’s ability to process and respond to information is once again under scrutiny following a recent interview with the New York Times.
Biden spoke with the newspaper on Thursday, discussing some of the more generous actions he took as his time in the White House was winding down. Reports have surfaced on these actions, raising eyebrows.
Notably, an article indicated that “Biden did not personally sign an official warrant recording these decisions. Instead, his White House staff utilized automatic pen devices to do so.”
Excerpts from the interview have been shared by the newspaper.
In response to accusations from President Trump and others, Biden’s team claimed, “Biden was neutralized, and his aides misused the autopen.”
“They are liars. They know that. They certainly know. I mean, this is—look, they had promising things happening here, but they managed it very poorly. They lie consistently about almost everything they do. The best they can do is shift focus and turn their attention elsewhere. I think that’s what this is.”
“That aligns with Trump’s strategy all along. If I’d told you three years ago that we’d have a president acting this way, you might have thought I was crazy.”
Regarding a preemptive pardon he issued for his family, he mentioned, “From a family perspective—it follows me through my family.”
According to the article, Outkick Founder Clay Travis remarked that Biden’s statements were “not entirely understandable.”
“Read this. A man’s brain seems a bit scrambled. He doesn’t have a grasp on what’s happening and has zero chance of making all these pardon decisions,” he commented on social media.
In response, social media users expressed their opinions on Travis’ remarks. One user wrote, “No one allowed… I thought he was just ordering ice cream.”
Another user pointed out, “I listened to the audio. His answer is so inconsistent that it feels like a code to cover up something.” Others suggested reading it aloud to gauge reactions.
Earlier in May, President Trump claimed that the allegations regarding the Biden administration’s use of autopen had developed into a significant scandal.
“Anyone who has managed the ‘autopen’ would want it to be a scandal. It’s a key part of real crime, especially connected to the 2020 presidential election!”
Meanwhile, investigations into alleged cover-ups concerning Biden’s mental decline during his presidency have been ongoing.
