DHS Accuses Rep. Salud Carbajal of Inciting Violence Against ICE Agents
Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have claimed that Representative Salud Carbajal (D-CA) may have sparked a confrontation involving left-wing activists and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, which resulted in injuries requiring emergency medical attention.
On July 10, ICE agents executed a raid on a marijuana cultivation site in California, which is noted as a sanctuary state. This operation led to the arrest of over 360 undocumented immigrants, along with the rescue of 14 children.
During the incident, approximately 500 individuals mobilized to disrupt the surgery occurring at the site. Carbajal was reportedly present at this scene, where an ICE communications officer handed him a business card. According to a DHS official, Carbajal displayed this card to the crowd.
Subsequently, a member of the mob allegedly attacked the ICE agent, throwing a rock that injured the agent’s hand, necessitating stitches and a visit to the emergency room.
“The actions by Representative Carbajal are quite un-American,” stated Tricia McLaughlin from DHS. “He claims to be performing oversight as a member of Congress, but it is not oversight to expose ICE personnel and to encourage mobs to target law enforcement—it’s simply unacceptable.”
McLaughlin further remarked, “His conduct led to ICE employees being sent to the emergency room, and it’s not surprising that there has been a staggering 700% rise in assaults on ICE personnel recently. Representatives like Carbajal and Lamonica McIver are openly fostering and directing their supporters to attack law enforcement.”
Just last month, Rep. Lamonica McIver (D-NJ) faced charges from a federal tribunal after being recorded while engaging in an assault on an ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey. McIver allegedly obstructed ICE agents who were in the process of detaining undocumented individuals outside the center.
Breitbart News has reported that since January, there has been a dramatic 700% increase in assaults against ICE agents who are attempting to enforce federal immigration policies.
