Columbus Short's spouse obtains a restraining order, claims the actor has been abusive for years.

Aida Abramian Short, the wife of actor Columbus Short, has been granted a restraining order following her claims that he choked her after a drinking binge. This incident reportedly occurred on the same day he alleged that Aida had kicked their 10-week-old puppy.

A judge approved her request for a temporary restraining order on Monday, after Aida accused Columbus of attacking her during a laundry session at their home on July 7th, according to reports.

Aida stated that Columbus, 42, became belligerent due to excessive drinking, yelling phrases like, “Don’t hit F -King Door B – Ch,” which quickly turned the situation violent.

She alleged that he pushed and grabbed her before placing his hands around her neck, ultimately suffocating her. In a panic, she reportedly shouted, “My husband is suffocating me, help me!” and urged neighbors to call the police.

In her evidence to the court, Aida submitted photos showing visible bruises and injuries that she attributes to the confrontations with her husband. She emphasized that Columbus has a serious drinking issue that contributes to his aggressive behavior, citing an earlier DUI arrest as evidence.

Additionally, she expressed fears about the environment in which their children are raised, claiming that Columbus has been abusive in front of them. Aida also sought temporary sole custody of their two children, but that request was denied.

Interestingly, this request for a restraining order comes soon after Columbus himself had initially sought a temporary restraining order against Aida.

Columbus, in his own claims, accused Aida of abusing their puppy and described an altercation where he was slapped multiple times, resulting in injury. He alleged that he called the police during the incident, hearing Aida making loud noises that sounded like she was in distress. However, when authorities arrived, they found Columbus injured and arrested him instead.

Additional details revealed that Columbus has a history of verbal abuse towards Aida in front of their children, including past threats involving a knife.

The couple married in 2016 and they have two children together. Columbus has faced legal troubles in the past, including a prison sentence for domestic violence linked to attacks on Aida in 2018. Previous incidents include a guilty plea for misdemeanor domestic violence related to an altercation with his ex-wife, Tanny McCall.
