Trump Claims Adam Schiff Committed Mortgage Fraud and Demands Prosecution

Trump Calls for Charges Against Schiff

On Monday, President Donald Trump urged that California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff be charged with mortgage fraud.

Trump referenced an announcement from the financial crime division of mortgage giant Fannie Mae, stating that Schiff is “engaged in a persistent pattern of mortgage fraud.” He urged California Democrats to take action regarding claims that Schiff had listed his Maryland home as his primary residence for over a decade.

“Adam Schiff declared his main residence was in Maryland while he was, in fact, living in California due to his role as a California lawmaker,” Trump commented. “I’ve always thought of Adam Schiff as a con man.”

“Mortgage fraud is a serious matter, and crooked Adam Schiff (now a Senator) must face justice,” he added.

Reports suggested that in November 2023, Schiff had been claiming both a Maryland property and a condo in Burbank, California, as his primary residence.

Schiff began using his Maryland home as his primary residence in 2003 and continued to do so when refinancing at least four mortgages. Allegations suggest that Trump began noting fraud in 2009 when Schiff first refinanced the mortgage on his Maryland property, which he did not list as a second home until October 2020.

Meanwhile, Schiff has asserted that the Burbank condo was his primary residence, benefiting from tax-free homeowner status for several years.

Despite campaigning for a California Senate seat, Schiff reportedly treated his Maryland property as his full-time residence.

Trump has often criticized Schiff’s involvement in the Russiagate investigation and Trump’s response to it.

A representative for Schiff and Fannie Mae has yet to reply to requests for comments regarding these allegations.
