Megyn Kelly, Ben Shapiro spar over Epstein theories, DOJ response

On Monday, commentators Megyn Kelly and Ben Shapiro engaged in a heated discussion regarding Jeffrey Epstein’s files and the circumstances surrounding his death.

Kelly asserted that Epstein didn’t take his own life; rather, she suggested he was targeted while acting as an “agent” for Israel. Shapiro countered her claims, labeling the unknown whistleblower as unreliable.

“You could argue he was working for an extraterrestrial executive, allegedly threatening famous Americans to safeguard against future invasions. There’s a lot of evidence supporting various claims from both sides,” Kelly said.

Shapiro maintained that he trusted the findings released by Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, which stated that there was no evidence to indicate Epstein was murdered or that any “client list” existed.

Kelly challenged Shapiro’s viewpoint, arguing that authorities hadn’t directly responded to evidence put forth by the Justice Department and the FBI.

“Trump hasn’t specifically addressed this aspect. We’ve all noted the limited tweets from him regarding this issue. JD Vance expressed a desire for transparency, suggesting he wouldn’t remain silent once in office, and he hasn’t commented on it before,” she said.

Kelly added that while she had connections who hinted at deeper issues, one couldn’t be too specific about Trump prior to his taking office.

Shapiro, on the other hand, believed that whistleblowers should reveal their identities rather than stay anonymous.

“That’s easy for you to say, Ben. You’re in a different position,” Kelly replied, pointing out that Shapiro has a stable platform and a large audience.

Shapiro countered that many would step forward with evidence undermining government conclusions, stating, “If a whistleblower emerged from the biggest scandal in American history, they’d likely make more money than their current FBI salary.”

“Well, there’s a reason for not surpassing the person in charge,” Kelly retorted.

The exchange between them reflects a wider discourse on how the Trump administration dealt with Epstein’s files.

Some, including Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, claim to trust the White House’s statements, while others, like Steve Bannon, warn that missteps could cost the GOP significantly in the upcoming midterm elections.

President Trump responded to outside pressures by emphasizing unity within his administration, stating, “We’re one team, Maga. I don’t like the current situation; we’re the perfect establishment, and selfish individuals are attempting to undermine it.”
