Steve Deace’s New Children’s Book Tackles Indoctrination

Recently, during a conversation on the “Steve Deace Show,” the host was playfully challenged to write a children’s book. This light-hearted suggestion led him to create something meaningful.

That same night, Deace jotted down a rough outline and spent the following months refining it. His book features a young boy named Richie, who encounters “a rainbow fist teacher with blue hair and a nose ring” at school.

However, Richie holds an advantage. His father is supportive and instead of brushing him off with, “Shut up, son, I’m watching the game,” he engages Richie by saying he can pause the game. This interaction emphasizes their bond.

Richie’s dad introduces him to the Bible, guiding him through the real story behind the rainbow. Deace points out that while some may adopt the symbol with the intent to “brainwash” kids and subsequent generations, this narrative seeks to offer an alternative perspective.

The book, aimed ostensibly at children, primarily seeks to help adults grasp the ongoing indoctrination within the school system and encourages them to take action.

Deace shares his frustration regarding the current state of education, stating, “If you’re not a communist, they treat you like you’re a fascist, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic bias.” This sentiment reflects a common criticism he perceives in educational environments.

Interestingly, Deace noted that securing a publisher for this type of book wasn’t easy. He ultimately had to self-publish, even hiring an illustrator from Hungary to bring his vision to life. He muses that the reluctance among many, even on the right, to tackle this issue may reveal broader challenges faced today.
