Celebrating 250 Years of America

My fellow Americans,

As we mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, we take a moment to reflect on our shared history, the heroes who shaped it, our cherished flag, and the freedoms we hold dear. There’s an undeniable spirit of resilience and ambition here—something that sets us apart.

Being American means embracing a legacy of winning. And this notion of triumph has been part of our identity from the very start.

On April 19, 1775, a significant event unfolded. British soldiers, clad in their distinctive red coats, marched toward Boston, determined to quell a colonial uprising and apprehend leaders like Samuel Adams and John Hancock.

As they marched, organized and disciplined, they were met by ordinary folks—farmers, blacksmiths, shopkeepers—who wielded rifles and fired from behind trees and walls. It was a David versus Goliath scenario, really. The soldiers’ bright uniforms made them glaring targets, and their strict formations went against the very spirit of the determined locals defending their freedom.

The skirmishes at Lexington and Concord ignited the American Revolution, signaling the early stirrings of freedom that would inspire hope worldwide.

Fast forward to the Civil War, a turbulent chapter from 1861 to 1865, where the nation was torn apart, friends turned against friends in a bloody struggle to end slavery. Imagine if a treaty had been reached instead; we might not have known Abraham Lincoln’s name. Yet, through conflict arose a stronger sense of unity.

It was through bravery and sacrifice that America emerged as an indivisible nation under God—a nation built by generations of patriots committed to freedom. They fought valiantly, constructed railroads, and soared to new heights with skyscrapers. They succeeded against the odds, making the impossible possible.

Generations of Americans have opened their doors to others, fostering a spirit of generosity and inclusion. Unity was our strength, and it’s vital we don’t take that for granted.

For the sake of America and the world, we need to be resolute, transparent, and fair. Right now, we’re missing some of that balance with our elections and press. It’s a challenge we must face together.

We are one family under one flag. Our freedoms are shared, and every time we’ve faced threats, we’ve always stood firm. This is the essence of being American. We will endure, and I believe our best days are yet to come.
