Unusual Marriage Case in Texas

A Texas man discovered an unexpected twist after his girlfriend secretly married him without his consent following their breakup. Despite the split, she allegedly continued to pursue him, leading to her arrest for stalking.

Cory Martin, Police Commissioner in Beverly Hills, shared that the 42-year-old man contacted the police on June 13 after finding a package on his property from his ex-girlfriend. According to reports, the package was a Bath & Body Works gift bag filled with personal care items.

Among the contents, the man found a photo of his ex-girlfriend, 36-year-old Christine Marie Spearman, and, somewhat shockingly, a copy of their marriage certificate that had been filed with the McLennan County Clerk’s office.

The victim stated to the police that he was never actually married to Spearman. On June 2, he had gone with her to obtain a marriage license but had clearly expressed he wanted nothing to do with the relationship anymore.

Authorities suspect that Spearman managed to convince a pastor to perform the marriage ceremony in the absence of the groom, which is quite unusual. The police explained how this deception unfolded, noting that she had persuaded the pastor without the victim being present.

As per McLennan County regulations, both individuals must appear in person to secure a marriage license, which throws even more mystery into the case.

Initially, Chief Martin thought the documents might have been forged but later confirmed with the pastor that the ceremony did take place even without the groom being there, which he found hard to fathom.

The investigation resulted in Spearman being taken to McLennan County Jail after police issued a warrant for third-degree felony stalking. The situation, as Chief Martin put it, has become quite complicated and requires serious legal attention.
