A 20-year-old American woman has been charged with stabbing an immigrant man living in Germany to death, saying the man sexually assaulted her at a train station, leading to the stabbing.

The Kaiserslautern public prosecutor's office said in a statement last week that the incident occurred on June 29 at Kaiserslautern Main Station in southwestern Germany.

“According to the investigation results, prior to the stabbing, a 64-year-old man sexually harassed a 20-year-old woman, including grabbing her buttocks, and there was an exchange of words, and the fact that the 20-year-old man opened his mouth. “She used a folding knife she was carrying and made stabbing motions toward the 64-year-old man,” prosecutors said.

“The 64-year-old then grabbed the 20-year-old's arm, which he was using to wield the knife. The 20-year-old removed his hand from the arm and stabbed him once in the same motion,” the statement continued. He added that the man died “within seconds.”

The American woman was charged with manslaughter causing death, saying she acted in self-defense and did not aim at the man's heart.

Prosecutors said, “A charge of manslaughter requires only intent with respect to the injury, and (only) negligence with respect to the result of death.''

Prosecutors have not identified anyone involved in the incident.
