Aaron Judge sets more records to guide Yankees to victory against Tigers

Aaron Judge Moves Up Yankees’ Home Run List

Aaron Judge made significant progress on the Yankees’ all-time home run leaderboard just in time for a crucial series against the Red Sox this weekend.

On September 11, as former President Donald Trump honored the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Judge hit two home runs, pushing his career total to 361. This performance secured a 9-3 victory over the Tigers, elevating the Yankees in the wild card race.

Before the game, Trump visited the Yankees’ clubhouse, shaking hands with players, including Judge. He expressed his belief that the team would persevere through the season.

Meanwhile, rookie pitcher Cam Schlittler bounced back from a rough start, pitching six solid innings. This display was particularly impressive during a span where the Yankees have been vying for a wild card spot against the Red Sox, highlighted by their current record of 81-65.

Giancarlo Stanton also contributed, hitting his home run, which placed him alongside Hall of Famers Jeff Bagwell and Vladimir Guerrero Sr. on the list at 449.

Schlittler faced challenges recently, including a disappointing outing against the Blue Jays where he allowed four runs. However, manager Aaron Boone showed confidence in the young pitcher’s ability to recover.

Boone remarked, “He’s the same guy. He managed everything well despite the bumps along the way. That’s just the nature of the sport.” He added that he was optimistic about how Schlittler would handle this new challenge.

In the game, Judge gave the Yankees an early lead with a solo homer off Detroit’s Tyler Holton in the first inning. He followed this up with a second RBI single that helped extend the lead.

The Yankees took control with additional RBIs from Ben Rice and Jose Caballero, maintaining momentum throughout the night.

After his recent achievement, Judge’s 46 home runs this season puts him third all-time in the franchise behind legends Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig.

Stanton, who missed a substantial part of the season due to an elbow issue, made his mark by hitting his 20th home run and is close to tying Red Sox great Carl Yastrzemski at 40th in all-time rankings.

The Yankees sent nine players to the plate during a dominant inning, scoring four runs and leading the game 9-1.
