Aaron Judge’s early home runs energizing Yankees’ performances

Aaron Judge’s Strong Performance Fuels Yankees’ Success

Aaron Judge has been making a significant impact early in games, which seems to be a game-changer for the Yankees.

Of his nine home runs this season, an impressive five have come in the first inning, including his last three. Over the course of 22 games, he’s achieved 9 hits in 20 at-bats, maintaining a .450 average, along with one walk, a double, and eight RBIs, which translates to an extraordinary OPS of 1.726. Starting strong often sets the tone for success, and the Yankees capitalized on this, winning 11-3.

During a recent game at Yankee Stadium, after temporary leadoff hitter Ben Rice received a walk, Judge wasted no time. He smashed the first pitch he saw from Kansas City’s Cole Regans into Monument Park, quickly putting the Yankees up 2-0.

The Yankees continued to rally, sending six more batters to the plate and adding extra runs in that inning. Manager Aaron Boone commented on Judge’s quick start, suggesting it might have a ripple effect on the team’s performance.

“Maybe there’s something to it,” Boone remarked after the sweep against the Royals. “When the captain is that hot, it seems to influence everyone a bit.”

Judge, known for his impressive home run stats—second only to Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle in Yankees history—has an ongoing personal milestone to chase. Since 2024, 43 out of his 120 home runs have been early game scores. His career OPS of 1.051 is notable but doesn’t quite match his performance during his fourth (1.093) and seventh seasons (1.118).

When asked about his recent hitting spree, Judge downplayed it, saying he just focuses on doing his job, regardless of where he bats in the lineup.

Meanwhile, Cody Bellinger is riding a season-high eight-game hitting streak as the series against Boston approaches. During this stretch, he has tallied 11 hits in 31 at-bats, boasting a .355 average and an on-base percentage of .444, alongside two home runs, two doubles, and six RBIs.

On the other hand, Jazz Chisholm Jr. still seeks his first home run of the season. He stepped into Sunday with a less than impressive 4-for-31 at-bats, resulting in 11 strikeouts, six walks, and a .464 OPS over his last ten games.
