Aaron Rodgers Stays Grounded Ahead of Jets Game

Aaron Rodgers seems unfazed by the buzz surrounding his former team, the Jets, as they prepare for their first game this week.

While he and the Pittsburgh Steelers will keep a close eye on the Jets, whom Rodgers believes are contenders for the Super Bowl, he told Adam Sheen in an interview on Sirius Mad Dog Sports Radio that the situation isn’t where it could be. “It’s not as close as it might seem,” he remarked.

“Things have really shifted over there, especially with new coaching staff and player changes. Sure, I have friendships still with some people there, but for me, this game is just another matchup.”

Rodgers is set to appear in another interview on the SiriusXM Station Tuesday morning.

The upcoming game against the Jets on September 7 at MetLife Stadium will mark Rodgers’ return to New Jersey two years later. It’s been a challenging time for him, as a season-ending Achilles injury derailed his first year with the Jets, and the 2024 season finished with a disappointing 5-12 record, extending the Jets’ playoff drought to 14 seasons.

When asked about his feelings toward Jets fans before heading back to Meadowlands, Rodgers reflected on what the time meant to him. “I truly valued my experience there,” he shared. “I was determined to win, and while things didn’t go as planned, I’m filled with gratitude for the moments I had—though it’s a bummer they were cut short. It was special while it lasted.”
