KRON 4 reports that during a preliminary hearing inside a San Mateo County courtroom on Friday, prosecutors said Metchkov shouted in the courtroom, “I’m sure I killed the victim,” but that his confession was It was said to have been generated by AI (artificial intelligence).
On the day of the murder, several of Metchkov’s Facebook friends watched the extremely gruesome video, including a Florida woman who contacted law enforcement. The caller said he saw a video of a woman lying on the ground covered in blood.
The stabbing was first reported to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada when a caller said he saw the video on Facebook. The Sheriff’s Office “pinged” the phone number associated with the Facebook page and determined it was a large apartment complex in San Mateo.

Authorities said officers went door to door and found Estrella inside the unit about three hours later. Police said Metchkov knew her, but did not say how she came to be.
District Attorney Steve Wagstaff previously told KRON 4 that the Facebook posts were evidence that the murder suspect “felt some kind of pride” in the crime.
On Friday, Metchkov’s lawyers filed a motion to postpone the hearing, saying they needed more time to prepare. The hearing was rescheduled for March 21 at 9 a.m.
