Activists against ICE block Brooklyn Bridge, 14 taken into custody by NYPD

Anti-ICE activists have recently engaged in unlawful activities, notably leaving their mark on New York City. On Wednesday, a group protested by blocking access to the Brooklyn Bridge, leading to heavy traffic congestion.

In another incident, a man faces charges for allegedly defacing the 9/11 memorial by spray-painting over the names of victims. Both disturbances occurred this week while local officials have not yet spoken out on the matter.

Brooklyn Bridge Protest Against ICE

The demonstration by anti-ICE protesters frustrated commuters trying to access the bridge. Many drivers, stuck in traffic, were caught on video pleading with the protesters for passage. One individual was heard exclaiming, “I just want to get to work!”

Protesters wielded a megaphone, shouting, “NYPD, K-K-K, I-C-E, THEY’RE ALL THE SAME!” Another voice called out for the release of Oscar Bergal, a Dominican national involved in a recent incident during an ICE arrest attempt in Marble Hill, Manhattan.

Law enforcement arrived to address the situation, leading to the arrests of several demonstrators. By about 1:30 PM, the protesters had been removed, approximately an hour after their blockade began.

The NYPD confirmed that 14 arrests were made but reported no injuries. Fox News has reached out to the mayor’s office for comments regarding these incidents.

Vandalism at the 9/11 Memorial

Regarding the vandalism incident, Port Authority Police reported that Johnathan Tijerina, 31, was apprehended after he reportedly spray-painted the 9/11 Memorial. He allegedly left a message reading “just stop killing kids” across several engraved names.

Tijerina recorded a video of himself vandalizing the memorial, which was later shared by his organization, “Just Stop Killing Kids.” They released statements calling for stricter gun laws, including universal background checks and a national gun registry.

A spokesperson for the 9/11 Memorial & Museum noted that security and police quickly responded to restore the affected area, emphasizing the memorial’s significance as a site of reflection honoring the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
