Activists Monitor Immigration Agents in Minneapolis

Some activists from the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota, are reportedly tracking immigration agents around the city, as shared by the group Krimis Inc. In a recent post, they detailed a day spent following the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, beginning with a 5 a.m. start and encountering ICE while driving.

These activists reportedly participated in a 1,000-member Signal chat focused on local “rapid response.” This phrase is used by activists to describe a network monitoring ICE’s activities nationally.

In the same post, the group mentioned their reason for being in Minneapolis, which was to support the community and better understand the situation following the shooting of Renee Goode by ICE agents on January 7. Goode, who was 37, was hit while the agents were driving toward her.

The post conveyed a sense of solidarity, stating, “We feel that the entire city supports us, both as guests and as volunteers visiting from out of town.”

It was also noted that these activists are regularly recreating their group chats. One notable instance involved an encounter where they identified a federal vehicle’s license plate through their database.

“We pulled out of the driveway and began patrol,” they recounted. “A suspicious vehicle heading west on Main at the corner of 7th Avenue was noted. The silver Texas Dodge Ram plates are Alpha Kilo Radio 3863. Could you please check the plates?” According to their account, a dispatcher confirmed it was indeed an ICE vehicle.

Looking ahead, the group suggested that their network might escalate actions against businesses reportedly cooperating with ICE, such as disrupting airport traffic. They pointed out that deportation flights have been departing from Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport daily, although they noted that efforts to close the airport haven’t yet succeeded.
