Don’t touch the machete!
Actor Danny Trejo punched a Fourth of July parade participant who allegedly hurled water balloons at the “Machete” star’s vintage convertible, sparking a mass brawl on the Los Angeles parade route.
The Southern California assault happened during Thursday’s Independence Day parade in the Sunland-Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles. According to ABC 7 Los Angeles.
According to video obtained by the outlet, the 80-year-old actor was stopped along the parade route in his baby blue Corvette when a water balloon was thrown into his windshield.
Trejo, wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and black pants, jumped out of the classic car and punched the man suspected of throwing the water balloon.
But the “Spy Kids” actor’s punch missed the man, who was wearing a tank top and a backwards hat, and Trejo was knocked to the pavement.
It was not immediately clear who else was in Trejo’s car, but video showed two young children being dragged from the vehicle.
A massive brawl then broke out between the suspect and others who had jumped into the chaos.
The man, who was reportedly throwing water balloons, struck the second man several times, before the fight moved onto the sidewalk where spectators were gathered to watch the parade, where other men attacked him.
In the video, Trejo is seen getting up from the ground, grabbing a green folding chair and throwing it at the rowdy brawlers.
A woman then ran up behind the actor and held him down before others rushed over and stopped him.
As the commotion continues, parade-goers can be heard pleading with the actors and brawlers to stop because they have children.
The brawl, which lasted about 30 seconds, was eventually broken up by bystanders.
Police said they received reports of fights along the parade route, but the crowd dispersed when officers arrived. TMZ.
No one was arrested.
Trejo told TMZ that having water balloons thrown at his Corvette was “childish” and that the people who did it were “cowards.”
The media reported that the suspect who allegedly threw the balloons was around 30 years old.
The 80-year-old actress said she was not injured during the altercation.
