Hollywood Star Supports Republican Gubernatorial Candidate in California

Hollywood figure Lorenzo Lamas has voiced his support for California’s Republican governor, criticizing Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration for what he describes as a “devastating” effect on the state.

Best recognized for his action roles in the late 20th century, Lamas recently shared his endorsement for Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco as a gubernatorial candidate, remarking, “The tide has a big impact on California.” He expressed serious concerns over Newsom’s management, labeling the situation as nothing short of catastrophic.

Lamas explained that he has been cautious in sharing his political views in the past. “You know, the political leanings of a studio can dictate your career choices,” he noted. However, he feels the urgency to speak out, especially at this critical juncture both in California and across the nation. “We have to address what’s wrong,” he urged.

Reflecting on California’s circumstances, Lamas expressed frustration over the management of its resources and economy. He characterized the Democratic governance as a “disease” affecting the state from top to bottom. “We need to consider those who are disenfranchised, who are struggling on the streets. The funds that are supposed to help them—where are they going? It seems there’s a lack of accountability regarding welfare funds that aren’t truly aiding those who need it,” he remarked.

He also touched upon the devastating impact of natural disasters in recent years, revealing a personal connection to the devastation in his hometown of Pacific Palisades, which faced severe fires. “I grew up there, and sadly, my childhood home was lost in the flames,” he recalled. Many locals, he noted, are unable to rebuild due to lengthy bureaucratic processes in place.

Lamas is adamant about the need for leadership that prioritizes law enforcement to ensure safety. He highlighted his concerns for his daughters living in Los Angeles. “You can see the increase in crime everywhere—in California and beyond. It’s troubling,” he stated, emphasizing the necessity for a governor who actively supports law enforcement, as law and order is critical for community safety.

Despite being a Republican in a predominantly Democratic state, Bianco’s campaign centers around addressing public safety and the high cost of living. Lamas believes in Bianco’s ability to make impactful changes. “He has a knack for conveying his policies in a relatable way,” Lamas explained, suggesting that common sense should dictate California’s political choices moving forward.

Regarding the possibility of electing a Republican governor in California, Lamas is optimistic. “The tide turned nationally last November towards common sense. I believe it’s time for California to follow suit. Chad Bianco should be our choice,” he stated.

Newsom’s office, when approached for a comment, had a rather dismissive response, seemingly unperturbed by Lamas’ criticisms. Meanwhile, Bianco’s campaign continues to draw endorsements from notable figures, including former UFC champions, bolstering his visibility in what appears to be an uphill battle for the governorship.
