Adam Carolla Criticizes Gov. Pritzker for Blaming Trump in College Student’s Murder

Comedian Adam Carolla recently took aim at Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for blaming President Donald Trump for the murder of 18-year-old college freshman Sheridan Gorman, which was reportedly carried out by an illegal immigrant.

Pritzker pointed fingers at the Trump administration for the incident, even though it’s been reported that the suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, a Venezuelan national, was released twice under President Joe Biden’s administration this year. Carolla commented on this inconsistency during his show, noting that Pritzker’s claims seem illogical given Illinois’ lenient policies regarding illegal immigration.

“Here’s the situation: An 18-year-old girl was killed by an illegal alien. You’re in a sanctuary state and city. So, how is this Trump’s fault?” Carolla remarked. He expressed disbelief at Pritzker’s logic, suggesting that if anyone was responsible, it was the existing policies in place rather than Trump’s approach.

He further dissected the justice system’s failures, saying, “The man who killed this girl wasn’t even considered a major criminal. He was in your sanctuary city illegally, having been caught shoplifting before this tragic event.” Carolla emphasized that just a couple of years ago, Medina-Medina was deemed less of a threat, but now he’s facing murder charges.

On Sunday, the Department of Homeland Security reported that Medina-Medina was initially arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on May 9, 2023, and then released under the Biden administration. He faced another arrest in Chicago for shoplifting and was released shortly after on June 19, 2023.

Authorities allege that Medina-Medina fatally shot Gorman while attempting to flee near Loyola University’s campus last Thursday. Pritzker expressed his condolences, stating, “This is a terrible tragedy. The Gorman family has experienced immense suffering. There have been failures, extending far beyond Illinois, including flaws in comprehensive immigration reform.” He criticized the federal government, pointing to a collective failure to address the situation effectively.

Democratic Chicago City Councilman Raymond Lopez also weighed in, arguing against Pritzker’s attempt to shift blame onto Trump. He stated, “If you’re going to hold the federal government responsible, you must also acknowledge its role in allowing a significant influx of individuals from various regions, without proper vetting, which has led to scenarios like this.”

Pritzker had previously portrayed Chicago as a safe city, despite ongoing violent crime issues, and has had his share of disputes with Trump over ICE policies, including supporting a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security earlier this year.
