Adam Schiff Trolls Conservatives to Gain Senate Race Advantage

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is disliked by conservatives, but he has done a bold and effective job targeting conservatives and urging them to support Republican Steve Garvey over his Democratic rival in the primary. We are running an advertising campaign.

Californians will go to the polls on March 5 as part of Super Tuesday. Many people have already submitted their ballots by mail.

In California’s “jungle” primary, the top two candidates from any party automatically advance to the general election. Mr. Schiff could face an uphill battle in November against Democrats, especially female Democrats.

But given the large registration advantage that Democrats enjoy in the Golden State and the fact that no Republican has won a statewide election in California in more than a decade, he is more likely than any other Republican to win. will also have a big advantage.

So Mr. Schiff ran an ad setting up the race as a contest between himself and Mr. Garvey, ignoring Rep. Katie Porter (D) and Rep. Barbara Lee (D). It has the effect of rallying Democrats to his side, and it has the effect of rallying conservatives to Mr. Garvey’s cause.

In fact, Schiff’s ads targeting Garvey reference facts likely to be of interest to conservatives, such as the fact that Garvey voted for Donald Trump twice.

This message is bad for Democrats, but very positive for Republicans.

One of Schiff’s ads on Facebook even includes a link to an article purporting to be from Breitbart News, when it’s actually fox news radioHe praised Garvey, saying, “How a retired baseball star could be key to the Republican-controlled Senate.”

Ads like these are boosting Garvey’s poll numbers, making it more likely that he will advance against Schiff and that Schiff will win the November election.

“If he and Porter make it to the runoff, they’re evenly matched.” flash report Editor John Fleischman is a seasoned expert on California politics.

But Fleischman says there’s a reason Republicans like the fact that Garvey is doing well in the polls, even if it helps Schiff. Mr. Garvey’s presence could boost Republican turnout and help the California Republican Party, which has struggled in multiple congressional races, and could help the party maintain its House majority.
