Agent hurt as students protesting ICE are seen hitting officers with a pole in downtown Los Angeles confrontation

A federal officer sustained injuries during a confrontation with anti-ICE demonstrators in downtown Los Angeles.

The injured man, 40 years old, has not been named, nor has his agency been disclosed. This incident unfolded around 1:30 p.m. amid a clash involving students.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the injuries happened when protesters began “fighting federal agents on Alameda Street between Temple and Aliso.” Footage from the scene showed one protester swinging a pole at police, although it’s unclear if that action caused the officer’s injuries.

Emergency personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department attended to the injured officer, who was then taken to a hospital and reported to be in good condition shortly after 1:30 p.m.

While the situation escalated, police stated that some protesters implicated in the altercation managed to blend into the crowd and flee the scene. A statement on social media from the LAPD’s Central Division noted, “Suspects of assault on federal officers are blending into the march.”

Additionally, there were reports of vandalism around the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building, and traffic was significantly disrupted as protests persisted into the afternoon.
