AI can easily imitate social media influencers

In today’s social media landscape, artificial intelligence video companies are pushing the boundaries of what realistic video content can look like.

A video by the Dor Brothers, titled “Glorious and Melancholy,” employed Google’s VEO 3 AI model to create striking videos about terrorist incidents.

“Men literally destroy everything and my girls need to stop being so soft with these basic losers,” the video quips, reflecting a satirical take on influencers.

The project targeted common stereotypes, including race activists, fitness influencers, and cryptocurrency advocates, all portrayed through hyper-realistic animations that mock their often shallow personas.

“OMG, folks! The world is ending. Aren’t you paying attention? This is honestly kind of thrilling,” someone remarked while filming in a chaotic environment.

Then, another character appears, stating, “If we run it, it would be totally good. Do you get it? Men are just wrecking everything, and my girls have to toughen up against these basic losers.”

Following that, the video transitions to a cryptocurrency influencer, a buff guy in a car sporting a bitcoin button, urging viewers to buy stocks while prices are low.

“Guys, this crash is the perfect moment to invest. I’m getting more now,” he announces.

A fitness influencer also chimes in, warning that “the world will collapse if men stop lifting,” and jokingly asks for donations before a impending flood.

They played with the sound, too. The videos seem to be sourced from other studios or perhaps quick content creation tools using Google’s AI model.

According to Peter Gietl from Return, these videos blur the lines of reality, revealing just a sliver of a much larger trend.

“This video is fascinating—it highlights how a generation of influencers has commodified wars, natural disasters, and racial conflicts for audience engagement,” he explains, noting the disconcerting disconnect in their content.

The authenticity of these AI-generated influencers, particularly in the realms of racial and gender activism, is striking.

“Even if everything burns, my fight for recognition and acceptance goes on,” says a female character with multi-colored hair, emphasizing the important role of representation during crises.
