Aid Project in Gaza Supported by U.S. Resumes Following Hamas Threats

Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Resumes Operations

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) resumed its efforts on Sunday after a brief halt on Saturday due to a specific threat from Hamas.

Backed by the Trump administration and protected by Israeli Defense Force (IDF) personnel, the GHF has managed to distribute approximately 10 million free meals over the past two weeks. This comes despite ongoing threats from Hamas, along with criticism from the United Nations. Historically, both Hamas and the UN have controlled the distribution of aid in Gaza, often with reports of terrorist groups misappropriating resources and requiring payments from Palestinians.

On Saturday, the GHF was compelled to temporarily cease operations at the aid site following a direct threat from Hamas. A spokesperson for GHF commented:

“Hamas is the reason that hundreds of thousands of hungry individuals in Gaza went without food today. The group issued a specific threat to our operations. Such threats make it impossible for us to continue safely without endangering innocent lives. Hamas seeks to revert to a dysfunctional system it once controlled and took advantage of. They manipulate the flow of aid, advancing their own agenda over the essential needs of the Palestinian people. Nevertheless, GHF is not deterred. We are committed to delivering aid safely and independently, and we will adapt our operations to overcome these challenges and resume distribution immediately.”

On Sunday, reports indicated that GHF had reopened the site and distributed over 1.6 million meals across three locations, including the new Gaza Central site. Additionally, a pilot project has been initiated in a new area of northern Mawasi.
