Aid Worker Deaths Wouldn’t Have Happened if Hamas Accepted Ceasefire Offer

On Wednesday’s “CNN Newsroom,” Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) said Israel is “preventing something like the murder of several workers in the world’s central kitchens.” “We need to figure out ways to double, triple, quadruple our efforts.” It will never happen again: “This would never have happened if Hamas had accepted the ceasefire agreement proposed by the United States, Israel and Qatar, and to which Hamas has been saying no for the past month.”

Mr. Moskowitz said:[T]His statement is clearly an Israeli mistake. That shouldn’t have happened. They’re going to have to figure out a way to double, triple, quadruple their effort to prevent something like this from happening again. But I also want to be clear that if Hamas had accepted the ceasefire proposed by Wolf, the United States, Israel, and Qatar, and which has been on the table for the past month, and Hamas had continued to say no, this would not have happened. It shouldn’t have happened. So I hope we can reach a ceasefire, a six-week ceasefire in exchange for hostages. Israel has offered a 10-for-1 exchange for the prisoners, but Hamas continues to say no. ”

He added: “These families are irreparably broken, with empty rooms in their homes and empty chairs at their dinner tables.” For those who are there, there is nothing that can be said to explain this.”
