A significant matchup between Texas and Tennessee had some added flair this time.
With President Donald Trump in Knoxville for the clash between the top-rated Longhorns and the No. 14 Volunteers, Air Force One performed a flyover above Neyland Stadium just before 11:30 a.m. ET.
Trump touched down at 11:28 a.m., which was around half an hour prior to the noon kick-off, and made his way to the stadium by 11:59 a.m., as reported by a pool report.
The President appeared on the ESPN broadcast in his suite roughly midway through the first quarter.
Throughout his presidency, Trump has been a regular presence at major sporting events, including Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden between the Knicks and the Spurs, as well as the World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium this past summer.
He also attended the College Football Playoff championship game earlier this year when Indiana capped its undefeated run against Miami in January.
This game, even prior to Trump’s attendance, featured considerable excitement as likely top-five draft prospect Arch Manning aimed to maintain Texas’ strong momentum.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian mentioned last Thursday that both teams needed to have communication contingency plans in place for the game.
“When the President attends any game, you need to be aware that whenever he enters or exits the stadium, or moves within it, all communication gets disrupted,” Sarkisian explained.
“They cut off coaches’ headsets and the communication from coaches to players. So, you have to strategize for that, and there’s no warning; it just happens.”
