Aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman Reports say he was caught up in a sea collision Wednesday night.
The US Navy's 6th Fleet has issued a statement regarding an incident involving a 100,000 tonne aircraft carrier that occurred just before midnight in the Mediterranean near Egypt.
“Nimitz class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) was involved in a collision with the merchant ship Besikutas-M on February 12th at about 11:46pm. Egypt in the Mediterranean.” Statement I'll read.
The statement added that no one was injured at the time of the crash and no floods were reported.
“The collision did not endanger Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) due to no reports of flooding or injuries,” the statement continued. “The propellant plants are unaffected and are in a safe and stable state.”
According to ABC News“The aircraft carriers and their strike groups have been operating in the Red Sea since mid-December as part of a mission to block attacks by Hooti extremists, launched from Yemen on commercial vessels passing through essential waterways. .”
The Navy added that the incident is currently under investigation.
“As it becomes available, more information will be released,” the statement added.
