AJ Brown clarifies viral social media post following Week 4 victory

AJ Brown’s Frustration After Eagles’ Win

The Philadelphia Eagles, the reigning champions, are heading into week five of the NFL season with an undefeated record. However, star wide receiver AJ Brown’s situation has raised some eyebrows. He has only one touchdown reception across the first four games. His frustration was palpable following a recent win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he managed just seven yards on two catches.

After the game, Brown took to social media with a cryptic message: “If you’re not welcome, don’t listen, quietly retreat. Don’t make a scene. I’m shrug and on the way.” This post seemed to echo a biblical sentiment from Matthew 10:14.

In 2021, Brown’s performance was significantly higher, nearing the 1,000-yard mark while playing for the Tennessee Titans. Yet, his current performance is markedly different, and he opted to bypass post-game interviews after the Eagles’ 31-25 victory in Tampa, where the team’s offensive struggles were clear, particularly in the second half.

Recently, Brown addressed his earlier post with reporters. He acknowledged his frustration had boiled over but took responsibility for his reactions. “On the Sunday after the game, I was boiling with frustration,” he explained. “I didn’t talk to the media. I let my emotions carry me away.” He reassured fans that his tweet wasn’t aimed at anyone within the organization, emphasizing that there’s open communication among team members.

Coach Nick Sirianni expressed confidence in Brown’s commitment, stating, “I have no doubts about his desire to play great football, his desire to be a good teammate, his desire to be here.” This comes after the Eagles rewarded Brown with a three-year contract extension prior to the current season.

Brown has a history of voicing concerns about his role in the Eagles’ offense, and with the added pressure of expectations, it’ll be interesting to see how the situation evolves as the season progresses.
