The death of Al Jazeera journalist Ismail al-Ghur on Wednesday was mourned by the network as a “targeted assassination”, but on Thursday the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) identified him as a Hamas terrorist.
This is just the latest example of an Al Jazeera journalist or freelancer being exposed as a Hamas terrorist.

Anti-Israel groups have sprung into action. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), whose leaders celebrated the October 7 terror attacks, has called on media outlets around the world to speak out against Israel’s actions.
CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said: “Media and journalists in our country and around the world must speak out forcefully to protect their colleagues in Gaza, who face daily threats of attack and death from a far-right, genocidal government determined to silence their voice.”

On Thursday, the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA, Shin Bet and Shabak) issued a statement identifying the “journalists” as terrorists.
In a joint operation between the Israel Defense Forces and the Islamic State (ISA), the Israeli Air Force attacked and eliminated Ismail al-Ghul, a Hamas military wing operative and Nuqba terrorist who participated in the October 7 massacre.
As part of his role in the military wing, Al Ghul trained other operatives on how to document operations and was actively involved in documenting and publicizing attacks against the IDF. His activities in the field were an important part of Hamas’ military operations.
