Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan criticizes Democratic opponent Mary Peltola over claimed ballot scheme, describing it as a serious scandal.

Senator Dan Sullivan, a Republican from Alaska, shared his thoughts with Fox News, accusing Democrats of being willing to go to any lengths to secure power. His comments come in response to reports suggesting that his Democratic opponent, Mary Peltola, and her campaign engaged in a covert scheme to encourage individuals who share his name to run in the Alaska US Senate race.

According to The New York Times, the strategy, involving Peltola’s campaign and key members of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, aimed to sow confusion among voters by presenting two candidates named Dan Sullivan, thus potentially siphoning votes from the incumbent.

“This is a scandal of the highest order,” Sullivan remarked during an appearance on “Hannity.” He elaborated, claiming, “She and her team, alongside high-ranking officials at the DSCC, spent over a year devising a secret plan to mislead Alaskans and manipulate their votes.” It’s quite striking; it shows the lengths Democrats might go to in order to obtain power.

The Justice Department is reportedly seeking to postpone the certification of the Senate election results in Alaska due to the presence of two candidates named Dan Sullivan on the ballot: the current senator listed as “Sullivan, Dan S.” and a retired schoolteacher listed as “Sullivan, Daniel J. Jr.”

“They’ve been deceiving people for nearly a year, and now they’re exposed,” Sullivan told host Sean Hannity.

Peltola has brushed off the allegations, describing them as “just another distraction” and asserting that the report from The New York Times was simply intended to boost sales.

Her campaign continues to assert their innocence, stating previously to Fox News that “Alaskans for Mary” had no affiliation with either Sullivan campaign.

Sullivan has argued that Peltola’s alleged actions reflect a level of contempt for Alaskans. “She’s campaigning against supposed corruption, yet she’s engaging in such deceitful tactics alongside Washington insiders,” he claimed.

“Peltola and the DSCC must think so little of Alaskans that they believed they could easily mislead them,” he added.

The senator speculated that Peltola’s campaign resorted to this tactic because it lacks substantive issues to discuss. “When faced with a candidate like Peltola, who is far-left and has limited valid points to campaign on, this is what you get,” he commented. “I have a solid track record… We have a clear vision for Alaskans, and they recognize that, leading them to consider underhanded tactics.”

Sullivan also pointed out that the implications of the alleged scheme extend far beyond Alaska, as the Senate race in the state could significantly influence which party controls the Senate.

“This reaches the highest levels of government,” he stated on “Hannity.” “The outcome of the race in Alaska could determine the balance of power in the US Senate. It’s not just an Alaskan issue; it’s an American one.”

Federal authorities are reportedly conducting a thorough investigation into how the second Dan Sullivan managed to appear on the ballot, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

Sullivan expressed his commitment to informing every Alaskan about the alleged scheme. “We are dedicated to ensuring that every Alaskan is aware,” he emphasized.

“We’re campaigning tirelessly, letting everyone know, ‘Don’t let anyone hijack your vote.’”

Fox News Digital reached out to Peltola’s campaign for a response.
