All American Airlines flights were grounded in the United States early Tuesday morning after the airline reported a technical issue that affected its entire system for millions of passengers traveling over the Christmas holidays.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered Flights will be suspended as a safety measure. The grounding order applies to all airports.
AP report The company has not issued a press release explaining the issue, and emails were not immediately returned.
A post on the FAA's website acknowledged the airline's request for a “national ground ground suspension” for all American Airlines aircraft and its subsidiary airlines.
The grounding could not have come at a worse time for the millions of travelers expected to fly over the next 10 days.
