Bayer Recalls Afrin Nasal Spray Due to Packaging Concerns
On Thursday, Bayer announced a recall of around 800,000 bottles of Afrin nasal spray after it was found that the packaging is not suitable for children.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) revealed the recall and mentioned that customers who purchased the impacted product can receive a refund. This recall specifically affects about 786,100 travel-size 6ml Afrin nasal sprays.
The recall encompasses unexpired bottles of Afrin® Original Nasal Spray (6 mL) with specific lot numbers: 230361, 240822, 241198, 250066, 250152, 250646, and 250831. The labeling clearly states “Afrin® Original Nasal Spray” along with “1/5 FL OZ (6 mL)” printed on the front of the bottle, according to the CPSC announcement.
“The packaging of the 6mL nasal spray lacks child-safety features and does not have the required labeling, which poses a significant risk of injury or illness from poisoning if swallowed by young children,” the statement indicated.
As of now, there have been no reported injuries related to this recall.
This recall follows a recent incident in which nearly 13,000 toddler tower stools from three brands were recalled due to multiple accidents and 21 reported injuries linked to stool collapses and falls, according to the CPSC.
The three affected brands are Toetol Tower Stool, Wiifo Children’s Tower Stool, and Amzcmj DGD Children’s Tower Stool, totaling roughly 12,830 units, as noted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Specifically, the recall includes about 3,000 Toetol stools, 9,700 from Wiifo, and 130 from Amzcmj.
According to reports, the recalled tower stools could collapse or tip over during use. This might allow a child’s torso to enter an opening in the tower’s side, creating a potential hazard for tipping, falling, or even entrapment that could lead to serious injury or death, the notice stated.
For the Toetol Tower Stools, there have been 18 incidents reported concerning stool collapses, resulting in 11 injuries, including bruises, cuts, and abrasions.
The Wooden Kitchen Tower Step Stool comes in white, gray, and dark wood, measuring around 20 inches deep, 15 inches wide, and 36 inches tall. Model number DETD0001 is printed on the side label. These stools were sold online through Amazon from October 2024 to March 2026, priced at approximately $130.
