Amateur boxer defeats three armed thugs tried to rob him A Rolex watch outside his gym in California.
Surveillance camera video captured the assault on Rocco DiStefano, owner and founder of Rabo Sunset Athletic Club, on West Hollywood’s famous Sunset Strip on Tuesday.
The video shows three masked men jumping out of a black Cadillac and charging toward DiStefano, who was walking his dog Hercules.
“I turned around and looked down the muzzle of the pistol,” DiStefano told KTTV. “They’re yelling, ‘Take it off, take it off!’ At that point I tried to run and realized I was hitting a corner.”
One of the assailants punched him in the face multiple times, and the other held a gun to his head.
“The only thing that makes me want to take it off is looking at my Rolex. So I take it off, hold it in both hands, and say to them, ‘You’re going to have to take it from me.’ I said,’” DiStefano said.
“I just saw my life flash before my eyes.”
The video did not show DiStefano fighting back. He said: “I was able to tackle a guy in a gray hoodie who was coming at me with a gun from behind and when I hit him with the gun, we both fell down.” .
The attackers were unable to steal the Rolex and decided to flee. DiStefano can be seen rushing to a nearby spa shop for help.
“I just got a rush of adrenaline and just watched my life flash before my eyes and I’m so grateful to be alive,” he added.
Police said no arrests have been made yet, but the investigation is ongoing. He added that there may have been a similar robbery just 15 minutes before this incident. They are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man.
DiStefano said the Rolex watch is a symbol of how much effort he has put into becoming successful. It will be kept in a safe from now on.
“I was definitely prepared in my upbringing, both physically and mentally,” he laughed.
DiStefano’s dog, Hercules, was not injured in the incident.
