Amazon is said to be considering Donald Trump Jr. as the host for a reboot of 'The Apprentice'

Amazon’s “The Apprentice” Reboot Considerations

Amazon, the current owner of the production rights for NBC’s “The Apprentice,” is reportedly searching for a new host to possibly revive the popular television show, which gained fame during Donald Trump’s presidency, according to reports.

Trump turned his extensive media experience as a businessman in New York City during the 1980s and 1990s into a hit reality show that debuted in 2004, where aspiring executives competed for a job at the Trump Organization.

After 15 seasons and a pause during Trump’s presidency, discussions are now focusing on Donald Trump Jr. for the hosting position. The oldest son of Trump often acts as an advisor for key executives like Carolyn Kepcher and George Ross.

Trump himself commented on the rumors of a reboot, stating that his son is a “good guy” and might excel in that role. He mentioned, “I think he’s showing a little charisma,” adding, “So we’ll see what happens.” This insight came from multiple sources familiar with the conversations.

As per the reports, while Amazon executives are mulling over Trump Jr. as the potential host for the show’s revival, they have yet to approach any members of the Trump family regarding the offer. If it goes ahead, the show would air on Amazon Prime rather than NBC.

A source close to Trump Jr. indicated that this was actually the first time the 48-year-old father of five learned that his name was in consideration. Fox News Digital has reached out to both the Trump Organization and Amazon for comments, though an Amazon spokesperson explained that the company had previously acquired MGM, which in turn purchased a majority stake in Mark Burnett’s production company.

Interestingly, this reboot would mark Amazon’s second engagement with the Trump family lately, following its release of a $40 million documentary about Melania Trump, which received mixed reactions.

In prior remarks, Trump often touted the success of “The Apprentice” during his presidency, particularly noting the show’s ratings concerns when Arnold Schwarzenegger took over hosting duties and faced what Trump called a ratings drop.

Schwarzenegger had previously responded to Trump in jest, advising him to take over television himself, as he claimed to be the ratings expert. Meanwhile, no official comments from NBCUniversal have been made regarding the potential return of the series, and responses from Amazon and the Trump Organization were not forthcoming by the time of publication.
